  3. Icon Polymaltose Copmplex

Patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) commonly develop iron deficiency and, if left untreated, they can develop iron deficiency anemia (IDA). In IBD, IDA is caused mainly by blood loss and/or impaired iron absorption from the gut,1 as well as by reduced iron availability for erythropoiesis.2 Under inflammatory conditions, iron sequestration is induced by an increased expression of hepcidin, which binds to and leads to degradation of the iron-export protein ferroportin and thus inhibits the release of iron from the enterocytes and from the macrophages of the reticuloendothelial system. As a consequence, the absorption and availability of iron is decreased.3 Oral iron, usually in the form of ferrous sulfate (FS) or ferrous fumarate (FF), is recommended as firstline therapy for IDA in IBD in some guidelines,4 although intravenous iron therapy is recommended as a preferred treatment option in other guidelines5 and in a number of recent publications.6–8

  8. HPMC (All Grades)

The matrix tablet by direct compression has attracted much attention due to its technological simplicity in comparison with other controlled release systems. It required fewer unit operations, less machinery, reduced number of personnel and processing time, increased product stability and production rate [1]. HPMC, a semisynthetic derivative of cellulose, is a swellable and hydrophilic polymer. Some research groups have worked on the usage of swellable HPMC as the retarding polymer to sustain the release of different drugs [2-4]. It is very suitable to use as a retardant material in CR matrix tablets, as it is nontoxic and easy to handle [5]. Matrix tablets prepared using

  9. KADPOL 940

Carbomer 940 can be used to thicken surfactant systems, and to create suspension products and is excellent when you need to suspend heavy particles. Viscosity actually has nothing to do with the ability of a product to suspend items such as jojoba beads or capispheres. For instance, a shower gel as thick as jello will allow the beads to either sink or rise …while a water thin product that contains Carbomer can suspend ball bearings.
